# Tesserc

> The modern development runtime

Tesserc gives every git worktree its own Linux machine in the cloud, called a
box. You and your agent keep editing on your laptop. When the agent needs to
run something, it calls `tesser`, which copies the worktree to its box and
runs the command there, and the dev server it starts opens on your laptop at
localhost.

```sh theme={"theme":"css-variables"}
tesser exec -- pnpm test     # runs the tests on a box and streams the output back
BOX=$(tesser dev web)        # starts the dev server on a box
open http://localhost:3000   # shows that dev server
```

## Many worktrees at once

Every worktree gets its own box, so five agents on one repo never fight over
port 3000 or your laptop's CPU. Each box has its own address on your laptop,
and a panel on the page switches which branch bare `localhost:3000` shows.

## Local and cloud agents

Claude Code and Codex run `tesser` from your laptop once you install the
skill. Cloud agents like Devin sign in with an API token or a grant and get
the same boxes.

## Previews

`tesser share <box_id>` prints a link to a running branch. A teammate opens
it and sees the branch at `box-<id>.localhost:<port>`, uncommitted changes
included, so a pull request gets reviewed against the running app.
[Invite teammates and share a running branch](https://tesser.sh/docs/teams.md) has the details.

## Pricing

Usage is metered per second and shown on the
[dashboard](https://tesser.sh/dashboard). The
[pricing page](https://tesser.sh/pricing) has the rates. An org you create
from the dashboard or the CLI starts with no credit, so launching or waking a
box fails with `credit_exhausted` until an admin upgrades the org on the
dashboard's Billing tab.
